Digital Radiology and Ultrasound: Advanced Imagery Promotes Diagnostic Success
Berks Animal Emergency and Referral Center provides outstanding diagnostic and treatments for your pet. Our advanced imaging capabilities, including digital radiology and ultrasound, provide valuable diagnostic information in the event of a pet emergency. Additionally, we provide referral ultrasound services for your pet.
Digital radiology is a frequently used diagnostic tool providing our veterinarians with a view of the internal body systems and the skeleton. These still images are captured digitally and are available for immediate viewing by our veterinary team, and easily transmitted to you or your pet’s family veterinarian. Digital radiographs are ideal for viewing:
Bladder and prostate
Bones and joints
Lungs and heart
Stomach, intestines, and colon
Ultrasound allows the veterinarian to examine the internal organs of your pet in a painless manner, with no known side effects. Ultrasound can capture real time movements of the organs, so functional abnormalities can also be found.
During an ultrasound, sound waves are converted into a moving image of your pet’s internal organs. It is available for immediate evaluation and it’s easy to share digitally.
Many people relate ultrasounds to pregnancy exams to show the baby inside the mother, but it has many other uses such as:
Heart and lung function (murmurs and blood flow)
Abdominal function (blockages or pregnancy)
Liver, bladder, spleen, and kidneys
Digital radiology and ultrasound provide valuable diagnostic information when trying to identify diseases and other health problems in their early stages. Please contact us if you have any questions, or to schedule a referral ultrasound consult.
